Marvel Studios reveals release date for Black Panther sequel

The story of T'Challa, Shuri, Okoye and the rest of Wakanda will continue in just a couple of years

It was never a question of if but when in regards to Marvel Studios returning to Wakanda and the adventures of the Black Panther & his friends and family. Now the when has been officially answered.

During a panel at Disney’s D-23 Conference it was announced that Ryan Coogler is returning to direct Black Panther II, not the official title, which will debut in theaters on May 06, 2022.

Coogler will work on writing and directing the film which will see Chadwick Boseman, Letitia Wright, Danai Gurira and Martin Freeman all return to their roles from the previous film. All but Freeman has appeared since the first film was a hit in 2018, showing up in Infinity War and Endgame where their places within the Marvel Cinematic Universe were grown and cemented.

There are a lot of questions that will no doubt come with the film from the foe to how things will go in the film, especially since during Endgame time leapt forward five years meaning that Wakanda was without its king and the rest of the royal family for five years and might have made some changes or such since it was assumed he might never return.

Whether this film will be used to wrap up the previously announced Phase 4 of films or to kick off Phase 5 is not clear at the moment, but now fans know exactly when the next part of the story will happen.
