Ms. Marvel series in the MCU from Disney+ is officially in the works

It’s official, Ms. Marvel is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

During their D23 Conference, Disney+ just announced that the reports of the Ms. Marvel series are indeed true and the series is coming to the platform from Marvel Studios, which places it alongside the other shows like Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision and Loki as MCU shows.

British writer and comedian Bisha K. Ali has reportedly been tapped to write for the series and act as the showrunner.

Before Carol Danvers became Captain Marvel in the comics in 2012, taking on the moniker of the long dead Kree hero Mar-Vell, she went by the name Ms. Marvel. Editors Sana Amanat & Stephen Wacker along with writer G. Willow Wilson and artists Adrian Alphona & Jamie McKelvie took that opportunity to create Kamal Khan a Pakistani American teenager from New Jersey who was a giant Captain Marvel fan & gained powers thanks to exposure to Terrigen Mists, the substance that gives Inhumans their powers.

Over the years Kamala has risen in popularity and headlined her own solo series three times, was a member of the Avengers and since 2017 has been a member of and leader of the teenage hero team known as the Champions.

Ms. Marvel, as well as the just announced Moon Knight and She-Hulk, shows, is part of the recently announced Phase 4 and likely won’t arrive till 2021 as the tail end of that phase.
