When Carol Danvers the high-flying powerful hero known as Captain Marvel blasts onto movie screens at last in March, she’ll be one of the early heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe exploring that crazy time known as the 1990s.
Things were very different in the 90s especially when it comes to the internet. Things were still finding their footing and social media sites were a pipe dream of the future. So its very fitting that to keep with the film’s timeline Marvel has released a very 90s website for Captain Marvel.
Looking like it was ripped straight out of the 90s from Geocities or Angelfire or other various build your own sites groups of the day, the Captain Marvel site has all the graphics and interaction you’d expect from the time period. There is even a shot of the Skrull grandmother that Carol punches in the trailer that keeps popping up that you can ‘punch’ by clicking on it.
There are games a plenty including one to choose if onlookers are Skrulls or Humans, the trailers and photo galleries. Go bask in the 90s goodness.
Set in the 1990’s, Captain Marvel will be the first fully female character led film from Marvel Studios (Ant-Man and the Wasp being the first to give a female character top billing alongside a male character) and will show the origins of the cosmic powered hero before she bursts onto the scene in present day for Avengers 4 next May.
Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel stars Larson, Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace the return of Djimon Hounsou & Lee Pace as Korath the Pursuer & Ronan the Accuser as well as Samuel L. Jackson & Clark Gregg playing de-aged versions of Nick Fury and Agent Phil Coulson respectively. The film opens on March 8, 2019.
