By the time 2019 debuts, Matt Murdock the man without fear known as Daredevil will be dead at Marvel Comics. Turns out, that’s not stopping a brand new creative team from picking up the story of Hells Kitchen’s vigilante hero.

Marvel Comics has debuted a brand new teaser that announces the launching of a new Daredevil series in February from Peter Parker: Spectacular Spider-Man Marvel 2-In-One writer Chip Zdarsky and Old Man Hawkeye and off and on Star Wars titles artist Marco Checchetto. Their run comes after Charles Soule wraps up his long run that began in 2015 with a storyline literally titled “Death of Daredevil” which is currently ongoing.

Soule continues a tradition from the 2000s where the outgoing Daredevil writer/creative team leaves the character in a terrible/impossible/changed situation that the new team has to run with and try to build upon. Brian Michael Bendis & Alex Maleev left Matt in prison, Ed Brubaker & artists left Matt in charge of the Hand ninja clan, Mark Waid & Chris Samnee & team left Matt with his identity known to the whole world and living in San Francisco.

Now Zdarsky and Checchetto have to deal with death, whether its the death of Matt or the death of him donning the Daredevil persona or something else is unclear at this point.

Daredevil #1 arrives in February.
