A day that many fans were no doubt dreading but knew would come one day has sadly arrived. Legendary Marvel Comics writer, co-creator of many beloved characters and king of cameos Stan Lee has passed away at the age of 95, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Lee’s life as of late has been quite rough as he has dealt with the loss of his wife Joan last July, numerous illnesses including a recent bout of Pneumonia, and with legal issues including suing the company POW! Entertainment that he helped create for fraud and suing his ex-business manager and asking for a restraining order. There were reports of elder abuse and various other issues that plagued the man.
Working for Atlas Comics before it became Marvel, Lee went on to work with comic greats like Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, and many many others to create not only the Marvel characters that are still loved to this day but the Marvel method of comics and much more in the world of entertainment. Each of the men’s impact still resonates today as comic characters and their styles have expanded beyond the pages.
Lee is survived by his daughter Joan “J.C.” Lee.
