After being name-dropped the past three seasons, and even in the season four premiere, Lex Luthor is about to make his presence truly felt in the Arrowverse.
As announced by DC Entertainment, Superman’s iconic enemy is going to make his first actual appearance in The CW’s DC world of shows during the current fourth season of Supergirl.
In all the time that the Luthors have been appearing on the series, with sister Lena as an ally to Supergirl and mother Lillian holding down the antagonist role, Lex has never been seen even in images. That makes it much easier now for the crew as casting is currently underway and they can choose anyone they want, for a recurring role meaning the genius villain will be sticking around for a while.
“We’re beyond excited to introduce iconic villain, Lex Luthor, to Supergirl and to weave him into our story this season,” said Executive Producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller. “We’ve talked about having Lex on the show since its inception and we’re excited to have him finally arrive. We can’t wait for him to shake things up in National City and watch him go toe to toe with not only Supergirl, but his sister Lena Luthor.”
Superman is set to return and Lois Lane makes her debut during the upcoming Elseworlds crossover but according to the news that will not be where Lex makes his official debut. There is no word on when or how Lex will appear since currently he’s been in prison for the last few years meaning an escape or a release is on the way. In the first episode of the season, there was a lot of information dropped about Lex and an old associate and Lena made a move against that associate that might play some part in this whole story.
Supergirl airs Sundays on The CW.
