The specter of death is coming for Daredevil as Charles Soule wraps up his run

After over three years on the title, Charles Soule is leaving Daredevil and might not leave Matt Murdock in the best place

Last week Marvel Comics dropped a pretty ominous Daredevil related teaser with “The End?” as a caption. Turns out that end is a lot more ominous than many might have thought.

Announced by Marvel, beginning in October Charles Soule is seeking to wrap up his lengthy (began in the latter half of 2015) run on Daredevil and alongside artist Phil Noto is pulling out all the stops with a new storyline called “The Death of Daredevil.” Beginning with issue #609 on October 17, the story is described as “Matt Murdock’s darkest chapter yet–one that will lead to a chilling and surprising finale in November’s DAREDEVIL #612! Is this the end for Matt Murdock?”

In a teaser video, Soule mentions that previous writers have tended to leave Matt in a very precarious type situation that the next writer has to overcome and he’s doing the same. Except instead of putting Matt in prison or revealing his identity to the world, he’s putting the character to death.

The death angle plays into the image in the teaser which featured Karen Page, who has been dead since 1999’s Daredevil #5. Whether this death will be Matt Murdock as a whole or just the Daredevil persona (which is quite common in comics) is unclear.
