After years of adventures following the revival of a series carrying the name, the Guardians of the Galaxy had their adventures in their own title come to an end earlier in 2018 so they could jump right into the summertime events Infinity Countdown and Infinity Wars. That loss of their own book changes in 2019.
As announced by Marvel, a brand new Guardians of the Galaxy series from the Thanos team of Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw is on the way in 2019, following up some setup in their current issue Thanos Legacy #1. Along with the announcement came an image featuring around 35 cosmic characters (including the original future Guardians members and the more recent team and others) and the caption “#WhoAreTheGuardians.”
For years the movie team of Star-Lord, Gamora, Groot, Drax, and Rocket Raccoon have been the base team of any Guardians books with some other characters mixed in for good measure. With the caption and recent happenings in the event books, that likely could be changing.
Thanos Legacy #1 arrives on September 05, and Guardians of the Galaxy relaunches in January 2019.
