Godzilla: King of the Monsters roars his way into a brand new trailer out of SDCC

A giant collison of monsters is on the way as the first Godzilla: King of Monsters debuts.

Five years after his last U.S. solo outing, Godzilla is ready to stomp into theaters once more in 2019. As part of their presence in Hall H of San Diego Comic-Con, Warner Bros. unleashed a trailer for Godzilla: King of Monsters.

The world has barely begun to accept the reality of a giant sea-dwelling radioactive fire-breathing lizard creature when things begin to get even worse with more of the ancient monsters begin to return. While most might have expected just a monster brawl film, the trailer promises something more human and that the true monsters might very well be humans ourselves.

“The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species – thought to be mere myths – rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.”

This film is the third film in Legendary Pictures & Warner Bros. “Monsterverse” which kicked off with 2014’s Godzilla followed by 2017’s Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla vs. Kong in 2020 will bring them both together.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is directed by Michael Dougherty and stars Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Sally Hawkins, Charles Dance, Thomas Middleditch, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Zhang Ziyi and Ken Watanabe. The film opens March 22, 2019.
