A slew of new titles are ready to swing into comic book stores this fall as Marvel Comics greatly expands their Spider-Man line. As teased last week, two of the titles announced during the line’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con were the new Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen series Ghost Spider and the Otto Octavius/Doc Ock series The Superior Octopus.
Coming out of the conclusion of Spider-Gwen, Spider-Gwen a.k.a. Ghost Spider is from the creative team of writer Seanan McGuire and artist Rosi Kampe with covers by Bengal and Superior Octopus comes from former Superior Spider-Man/Amazing Spider-Man co-writer Christos Gage and artist Mike Hawthorne.
Former Spider-Man writer and editor Christopher Priest makes his return to Marvel and the line with a three-part mini-series Spider-Force with artist Paulo Siqueira that spins out of the upcoming Spider-Geddon event. It will star Scarlet Spider/Kaine, Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman and Ashley Barton the Spider hero daughter of Hawkeye from Old Man Logan along with two new characters Astro-Spider and Spider-Kid. They are said to be on a suicide mission coming out of the event.
Also spinning out of Spider-Geddon is another limited series starring three Spider-Girls (May “MayDay Parker of MC2 Spider-Girl, Anya Corazon formerly known as Arana and Annie May Parker/Spiderline from Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows) titled Spider-Girls. The series launches in October from writer Jody Houser and artist Andres Genolet and has the Spider-Girl’s taking on the villainous Inheritors.
Lastly also spinning out of the event is the two-part series Vault of Spiders which is an anthology series featuring Spider-character stories from the Spider-verse featuring characters like Web-Slinger, Wild West Spider-Man and Supaidman from the live-action 70’s Japanese Spider-Man series.
All the series roll out in October.
