Gail Simone has spent years building amazing stories across various comic book universes, including iconic characters like Batgirl, Deadpool, the Simpsons and more. Now she’s taking on a whole new role with one of the publishers.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Simone has been named as the Chief Architect for Lion Forge Comics’ superhero centered line Catalyst Prime, a line dedicated to increasing diversity and representation within the genre. This role places Simone as the creative lead behind the line.
”I can barely express my excitement over this, and I want to thank Lion Forge for inviting me to play in this amazing new toybox,” Simone told Heat Vision about the news. “Everywhere you look, there’s something new and thrilling in this universe. And what we are planning is unlike anything I’ve seen anywhere.”
Catalyst Prime launched in May 2017 with Executive Editor Joe Illidge and writer Christopher Priest overseeing the line. Illidge departed the company in April 2018 for a position at Valiant Entertainment following the shakeup of creatives at that company.
“Bringing Gail Simone aboard this ever-growing line up of heroes is one of the most exciting developments since Carl Reed and I first conceived of these characters,” said Lion Forge co-founder David Steward II. “There is no one more qualified to bring even more energy, excitement and innovation to this universe, and we are thrilled to have her unique voice and expertise as we continue to create comics for tomorrow today.”
There is no word if Gail will also be doing any work on the writing side, but more information is likely to arrive at the “More Than Marketing: Lion Forge Comics Fall Preview” panel on Sunday, July 22 during San Diego Comic-Con.
