While various other projects are waiting in the wings, Flash and Batman’s cinematic adventures still uncertain among others, Warner Bros. is moving full steam ahead with their Joker film.
The Joaquin Phoenix led origin film for the crown prince of crime has now officially gained a release date of October 4, 2019, as well as an official title which is simply Joker, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This gives Warner Bros. three official DC related projects coming out in 2019, after only having one in the form of Aquaman this year as Joker joins April’s Shazam! November’s Wonder Woman 1984. The Phoenix led film will stand apart from the Jared Leto version of Joker who has appeared in Suicide Squad and will be part of that film’s sequel as well as various other Joker and Harley Quinn related films reportedly in development.
Phoenix’s Joker film will the first in a reported line of stand-alone DC films that will be under a second banner. Directed by Todd Phillips and produced by Martin Scorsese, the film will reportedly begin production later this year with a $55 million budget range.
