Doctor Otto Octavius, a.k.a. Doctor Octopus, might no longer be around to plague Peter Parker/Spider-Man as the web-slinger jumps into a new series, but he’s not done in the Marvel Universe. Because he’s gaining his very own comic series.
Marvel has debuted a teaser featuring Otto clad in the Hydra supplied costume he gained last year with the logo The Superior Octopus #1 stamped across the cover, using the pun of “Doc Ock-Tober” to tease when this new series will debut.
After taking over Peter Parker’s body back in Amazing Spider-Man #700 and serving as Spider-Man in The Superior Spider-Man, the anti-hero/villain managed to gain back a copy of his original body before abandoning it (as it was doomed to fail as a poor clone body) for a superior cloned body based upon Peter Parker/Ben Reilly. Becoming the Superior Octopus, he was last seen in Amazing Spider-Man #800 taking on the name Elliot Tolliver in order to teach at Horizon University in San Francisco as he seemingly wanted to turn over somewhat of a new leaf and lead a different life.
This is the second teaser for a Spider-Man related title, following a previous one for Spider-Gwen/Ghost Spider.
More information about just what will be happening with Otto’s series is slated to be revealed during the publisher’s Spider-Man panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, July 20 at 12:30 p.m. PST.
