Marvel is currently riding the waves of success after the phenomenal runs of Black Panther & Avengers: Infinity War earlier this year and the debut of their 20th film Ant-Man and the Wasp. They’re not just sitting and basking in the glow though, as their 21st film is one step closer to hitting the big screen.
Taking to Twitter over the weekend, Brie Larson revealed that her initial filming time for Captain Marvel, which stars Larson as the title character Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, has now officially wrapped. Larson revealed this in a fun way with a calendar showing the final shoot date along with a fully autographed clapboard from the film.
While her photo doesn’t indicate if this is a full wrap up for filming overall, it seems quite likely that if Larson’s time is done that the film is ready to move into the post-production side of things.
Set in the 1990’s, Captain Marvel will be the first fully female character led film from Marvel Studios (Ant-Man and the Wasp being the first to give a female character top billing alongside a male character) and will show the origins of the cosmic powered hero before she bursts onto the scene in present day for Avengers 4 next year.
Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace the return of Djimon Hounsou & Lee Pace as Korath the Pursuer & Ronan the Accuser as well as Samuel L. Jackson & Clark Gregg playing de-aged versions of Nick Fury and Agent Phil Coulson respectively. The film opens on March 8, 2019.
