Marguerite Bennett and Rafael de Latorre’s apocalyptic animals taking over the world from humanity comic book series Animosity is ready to leap to the big screen as Legendary Entertainment has acquired the worldwide rights for a film adaptation, according to Deadline.

In the world of Animosity, one-day animals suddenly become aware and gain the power of speech and thought and begin to take revenge upon the humans that have dominated over them. The AfterShock Comic series follows 11-year-old Jesse and her loyal companion and dog Sandor as they begin a cross-country journey from New York to San Francisco in search for the one person that might be able to protect them.

Debuting in 2016, AfterShock Comics is one of the newest players in the world of comic book publishing, focusing on creator-owned works, with former Caliber Comics editor Joe Pruett and former Marvel & DC (X-Men and Batman) editor Mike Marts as part of the companies founders and executive branch. The company has already published works from noted comic book creators such as Bennett & de Latorre, Warren Ellis, Cullen Bunn, Garth Ennis, Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti, Tony Harris, Mark Waid, Juan Doe and more.

AfterShock Media President Lee Kramer & CEO Jon Kramer will serve as producers on the film while Legendary Entertainment’s Jon Silk will oversee the production.
