Netflix’s 80’s inspired horror series Stranger Things has become quite a hit and now it’s popularity is allowing the brand to grow beyond the confines of the streaming network.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Dark Horse Comics and Netflix are teaming up in order to launch a line of comic books based on Stranger Things with the very first book to come out this September. Their deal is a “multi-year publishing lone” that gives fans “an opportunity to explore the mysterious world of Hawkins, Indiana,” according to Dark Horse.
“Dark Horse is known for championing stories and storytellers,” Dark Horse President Mike Richardson said in a statement. “We are so excited to work with Netflix to bring the world of Stranger Things to comics.”
The first series, titled Stranger Things, from writer Jody Houser with art from Stefano Martino, inks by Keith Champagne, colors by Lauren Affe and letters by Nate Piekos is a four-issue miniseries focused on Will Byers (played by Noah Schnapp in series) during his time in the Upside Down at the beginning of season one. It will fill in the gaps of adventures that Will had before he re-appeared at the end of season one.
Stranger Things #1 launches on September 26.
