With work wrapping up on their upcoming Avengers: Infinity War & Avengers 4, the Russo Brothers now have their next comic book related project ready to go.
After being picked up to pilot last year, SyFy has ordered to series a live-action adaptation of Rick Remender and Wes Craig’s ongoing Image Comics’ series Deadly Class, according to SyFy Wire. Joe and Anthony Russo will serve as producers on the series.
“We’re committed to developing graphic novels for SYFY and have found a rich, compelling, truly unique world in Deadly Class,” said Bill McGoldrick, President, Scripted Content, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, in a statement. “Our producing partners expertly combined high school angst, 80s nostalgia, and comic flair into a beautifully realized, visually arresting pilot that truly brings Rick and Wes’ acclaimed comic series to life.”
Set in the 1980’s, Deadly Class follows teenager Marcus Lopez ends up being recruited to be a student at an elite private school of assassins made up of children of mob bosses, murderers, and other criminals. It’s described by SyFy as a “coming of age journey full of ancient mystery and teen angst.”
SyFy’s Deadly Class stars Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange & Avengers: Infinity War), Benjamin Wadsworth (Teen Wolf), Lana Condor (X-Men: Apocalypse), Maria Gabriela de Faria (Yo Soy Franky), Luke Tennie (Shock and Awe), Liam James (The Killing), and Michael Duval (Queen of the South). Remender will also serve as an executive producer on the series alongside the Russos, Miles Orion Feldstott and Mike Larocca.
Deadly Class joins Happy and Krypton as comic book adaptations at the network. There is no word on when the series might debut.
