A bold new era is about to begin for one of Marvel’s teams of merry mutants. Following the conclusion of Charles Soule’s Professor Xavier focused story in Astonishing X-Men, drawn by a rotating stable of artists, a new team will arise both behind and on the pages.
Announced on Twitter, New Mutants: Dead Souls & Phoenix Ressurection: The Return of Jean Grey writer Matthew Rosenberg and longtime X-Men artist Greg Land are taking over Astonishing X-Men with issue #13. A new team co-lead by Havok and Beast alongside Dazzler, Warpath, and Colossus will appear within the book with Rosenberg promising a surprise mystery team member.
“I learned to read with X-Men comics. I survived tough times growing up through X-Men comics. X-Men comics helped shape my worldview and my personal politics. X-Men comics made me want to be a better person. And X-Men comics made me want to write comics,” Rosenberg said on Twitter. “Saying ‘getting to write X-Men is a lifelong dream come true’ sounds cliche but I don’t know how else to describe it. And the fact of the matter is I wouldn’t be here without a few people I want to thank.”
The new series begins in July.
