Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. offers a first look at Yo-Yo’s new robotic arms

Yo-Yo 2

Season five has not been kind to Agent Phil Coulson and the rest of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as they’ve rocketed to the future and came back to the present as wanted fugitives. Natalia Cordova-Buckley’s Yo-Yo Rodriguez has taken the brunt of things lately, having lost her arms during a fight.

Thanks to the discovery of some robotic arms, Yo-Yo is ready to get back into action in the upcoming episode “Inside Voices” airing on April 6. Thanks to IGN, there is a first look photo that shows off Yo-Yo’s new appendages as she stands in a black tank top in the gym, seemingly having finished testing out the new arms.

Yo-Yo

In Jonathan Hickman and Stefano Caselli’s Secret Warriors comic book series, back in 2009, Yo-Yo lost her arms during the very first mission that the team undertook following the orders of Nick Fury. According to executive producers Jed Whedon and Jeff Beal, Cordova-Buckley has been looking forward to the opportunity to match up more with her comic book counterpart as “Natalia’s been asking us for years,” Whedon said.

“Ever since she showed up, she goes, ‘when do I lose my arms? When do I lose my arms?’ We’re like, ‘Coulson lost a hand! Come on, really?'” Bell said.

While Yo-Yo will no longer be out of action following her loss, the effects of what happened will continue to linger moving forward.

“This is proof that everything that she saw in the future is coming true and is real,” Whedon told IGN. “And I think that any part of her that doubted it – she sits with Mack in [episode] 11, and says, ‘yeah, maybe we’re gonna keep that from happening, maybe I shouldn’t think about it, maybe I shouldn’t worry about it too much.’ And now it’s happening much faster than she thought. So, I think her agenda of trying to fix these things and her emotional drive behind it will be intensified.”
