Thor Odinson reclaims his mantle this summer for Marvel’s new Thor series

Unworthy no more, Thor has to clean up parts of Asgard scattered across the Earth & deal with the War of Realms at the same time.

Thor 2018

This summer, in the aftermath of “The Death of the Mighty Thor” Thor Odinson is ready to take back the mantle as the heroic Thor in a brand new series. As part of their “Fresh Start” initiative, Marvel is relaunching the God of Thunder’s title.

As announced by Marvel, Jason Aaron will continue his run as the writer of the all-new Thor series joined by artist Mike Del Mundo, who worked with Aaron years ago on Weirdworld.

“On the one hand, I still feel like I’m writing the same Thor story that began six years ago in the pages of Thor: God of Thunder But at the same time, God of Thunder had a very different look and feel and focus than Jane Foster’s story,” he said. “And even though Thor Odinson is now reclaiming his mantle, this new volume will also be going in a very different direction. Thor has a completely new status-quo. Actually the entire landscape of his corner of the Marvel Universe has been changed in the wake of the ‘Death of the Mighty Thor’ arc in MIGHTY THOR. But there’s still a War of the Realms raging, and Thor isn’t looking to stand on the sidelines.”

Along with dealing with the ongoing War of the Realms, Thor will be journeying across the Earth to reclaim scattered artifacts of Asgard. Along the way, he’ll have to use multiple variations of his iconic hammer and take on foes like the Juggernaut.

“I’m super excited about this new journey! Working with Jason on WeirdWorld was so much fun and badassery and I’m getting that same excitedness and feels with this new THOR series—with added thunder!”

Thor #1 arrives on June 13.
