Gabriel Hernandez Walta finishes Doctor Strange run & his time at Marvel Comics

During his time at Marvel Walta worked on critically acclaimed books like The Vision and Magneto.

Following the revelation earlier that Chris Samnee’s contract at Marvel Comics has ended, another of their current artists has reached the end of his contract.

Gabriel Hernandez Walta confirmed through Twitter that the upcoming Doctor Strange #385 is his final issue of that series and also the final work being done on his contract at Marvel. There was no word on what Walta will do now that he’s a free agent.

Walta has been exclusively working with Marvel since 2012 and has worked the critically praised The Vision series with Tom King, Doctor Strange with Donny Cates, Magneto with Cullen Bunn and more.

These departures come as Marvel is rolling out a new initiative called Fresh Start where they will reportedly be relaunching the majority of their superhero line of comics, especially those that were given bigger numbers during last year’s Marvel Legacy initiative.
