Officially cancellation hasn't occurred yet but all signs point to the series secret demise

After years of loitering on the Marvel Studios docket with little to no forward movement, Marvel’s Inhumans took a step forward as the project moved from the big screen studios to the television studios. From it’s poorly received trailers to a less than profitable premiere on IMAX screens over Labor Day weekend 2017 to ratings that plummeted with each of the series eight episodes on ABC, the series was in trouble.

The reception was so bad that IMAX CEO Rich Gelfond admitted that the move was a mistake & that the company would not try another experiment of that nature in the future. Rumors of the series cancellation began even before it premiered.

Because of all of that, it seems that ABC/Marvel TV might have stealth canceled the series.

As reported by SpoilerTVMarvel’s Inhumans has disappeared completely from the ABC press site.

Inhumans Cancelled

This, of course, is not an official cancellation, that likely won’t come till the network begins laying out their 2018/2019 schedule later this spring, but it seems pretty clear that the network is ready to move past the struggling series.

With Marvel shows finding success on Netflix and now Hulu and with a streaming platform of Disney coming soon the future of shows on ABC that are Marvel based isn’t clear. Previously it was reported that even after a stellar fourth season the network tried to cancel Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. but Disney stepped in to allow the current well-received fifth season.

There is no telling if the Disney executives will step in once again to save the show should ABC decide to cancel it, though they could choose to move it elsewhere so that ABC can move on from Marvel shows.
