There are quite a number of things that just are a given when it comes to the Star Wars films. Stories from a galaxy far far away, Jedis, lightsabers, ship battles in space, giant death weapons and heroes facing great evils.
Another thing is the music of John Williams.
Outside of the recent additions of anthology films like Rogue One and Solo, Williams has handled the scores for all eight of the main Skywalker saga films. That will not change for the upcoming Star Wars IX.
Speaking with Variety, Williams revealed that he will return to provide the score for J.J. Abrams second entry in this new trilogy that will cap off the story in 2019. Williams said he has already been in contact with Abrams to let the director know that he will compose the ninth film in the franchise.
“I would very much like to complete that,” Williams said.
While he’s only working on the main trilogy films, Williams will be able to add the Han Solo film to his vast resume because he’s handling the main theme for the film that composer John Powell will incorporate into his own music that will be the score for the film.
So while fans may not know anything about Episode IX at this point and how the trilogy and story of Rey/Finn/Poe/Kylo Ren and others will possibly end, they do know that the score will be just as amazing as it’s always been.
