After a lengthy stint handling characters like Batgirl, the Secret Six and others for DC Comics along with some creator-owned work, Gail Simone is ready to make her big return to Marvel Comics in 2018.

The publisher has officially announced that Simone is coming back to the company where she handled Deadpool years ago to handle another mercenary, as she helps launch the first ever ongoing series for the X-Men’s resident luck powered mercenary Domino.

Marvel’s soldier of fortune has found herself on the wrong side of the Marvel Universe merc community. Hunted by enemies, a danger to her friends, and chased by the one man who hates her more than anything in the world, Domino must fight for her life against her biggest threat – herself.

“My favorite characters are always the unpredictable ones, and with Domino, you literally never know which way the dice are going to roll,” Simone said. “I love her, and I can’t wait to show her best bad side!”

Currently, Domino has been serving as a member of Old Man Logan’s Weapon X team in the aptly named Weapon X, where they have dealt with the resurgence of the actual Weapon X program and a Wolverine/Hulk hybrid along with a war-torn country using the super-soldier Nuke to create soldiers to wipe out mutants.

There is no word on a potential artist for the series, but the solicitation states that Greg Land Frank D’Armata will provide covers for the series.

“Domino will continue to be one of the breakout stars of WEAPON X, but fans have been clamoring to see her get the spotlight for some time now…well, your wish has been granted!” said series editor Chris Robinson.

Domino #1 arrives in April.
