After revealing the line-up through teaser images, Marvel Comics is ready to peel back the curtain somewhat on the upcoming X-Men Red series. Led by the soon to return Jean Grey, the team consists of Nightcrawler, Namor, Wakandan mutant Gentle, the all-new Wolverine Laura Kinney & her clone sister Gabby Kinney and a brand new mutant named Trinary.

The secrets of Trinary and who she is will be revealed in the series, but she won’t be the only surprise for readers once the series arrives.

“We’ve also got one more fan-favorite hero joining the team in this first arc,” said X-Men group editor Mark Paniccia in a press release. “As the threat level escalates, Jean needs to build a highly specialized team…not just those she trusts, but allies who can survive the oncoming storm.”

That release about the new team also came with a description of the upcoming series:

When one of the most dangerous X-Men villains returns to wreak havoc, Jean’s dreams of peace are threatened…and order starts to turn to chaos. It’s mutant against mutant this February in an all-new adventure that will have X-fans on the edge of their seats, as Jean Grey’s team takes on the Marvel Universe – only in X-MEN RED!

This new series will serve as a companion to the currently running X-Men Blue X-Men Gold and will spin out of the upcoming Phoenix Ressurection storyline which will be the first time the adult Jean Grey has fully returned to the world of the living since her New X-Men death thirteen years ago.

X-Men Red from Tom Taylor & Mahmud Asrar, with covers from Travis Charest, arrives in February 2018.
