Fox’s Gotham adds Peyton List as a brand new version of Poison Ivy

Poison Ivy

When Ivy Pepper/Poison Ivy returns to TV screens for Fox’s Gotham in 2018, don’t worry you’re not going crazy in thinking ‘Hey wait isn’t that a different actress?’ Because it is a different actress.

That’s right, the series is once again recasting the role that originally started with Ivy being a kid roughly the same age as the young Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle. According to DeadlineFrequency and The Flash star Peyton List has now been added to the cast to take over the role of Poison Ivy from Maggie Geha who took over the role in season three from Clare Foley.

In season three Foley’s version of Ivy got touched by an inmate from Indian Hill/Arkham who had the ability to age people to death. Instead of killing Ivy the touch turned her into an adult woman who still had the mind of her child form, which made for some really odd interactions.

Apparently this new adult Ivy still wasn’t hitting the notes that producers & writers were looking for since they are moving on to a new actress and new form of the character. Producers released a statement about the recasting.

“In the continuing evolution of Poison Ivy’s origin story, Ivy Pepper has been transformed once again taking another step toward becoming the Ivy we know from the comics. Dangerous. A live wire of crazy energy. She’ll set her sights on Gotham, intent on making the city her own green paradise.”

List has superhero world & supervillain experience as she played the recurring role of Golden Glider/Lisa Snart, the sister of Captain Cold/Leonard Snart, a few times on The Flash. If she plays this Ivy anywhere near the way she played Snart it might actually be something accepted by fans, who have not been kind online about the child like adult woman Ivy that has been running around for the last season.

Gotham airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
