Former Daredevil showrunner Steven DeKnight interested in Kingpin miniseries

Daredevil Kingpin

After helping build the foundations of the Marvel Netflix side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as showrunner of Daredevil season one, Steven S. DeKnight ended up moving on to bigger things like the upcoming giant robots vs giant monsters sequel Pacific Rim: Uprising. If he has his way though, his time in the Marvel side of things might not be as over as it seemed.

Following the recent news that Vincent D’Onofrio is returning as the Kingpin for season three of Daredevil, DeKnight tweeted out that he’d love to be part of a six episode miniseries focusing on the villain.

DeKnight mentioned “Return of the King” in his tweet, which likely refers to the Ed Brubaker, Michael Lark and David Aja story arc in Daredevil comics that followed Fisk returning from exile abroad to avenge the death of his new love interest and her children after the Hand and Lady Bullseye killed them. It featured the unlikely team up of Kingpin and Daredevil as they came together to finish off their common foes.

If such a miniseries happens it would be adapted quite a bit since Fisk has been in prison lately instead off in another country, unless there are things that happen in season three of Daredevil that would lead to his leaving the country by it’s conclusion.
