The Kingpin returns as Vincent D’onofrio officially joins Marvel’s Daredevil season three

Daredevil Kingpin

One of many fan’s favorite parts of season one of Marvel & Netflix’s Marvel’s Daredevil, besides the hero himself, was the portrayal of the season’s main villain Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin. That means those fans will be very happy with the news for the upcoming third season of the series.

Announced by Marvel, Vincent D’Onofrio is officially returning to reprise the villainous role for the third season after only making a brief appearance during season two. Fisk’s return makes a lot of sense following the closing scenes of Marvel’s The Defenders which hinted that the series could adapt the “Born Again” storyline in which Fisk features heavily including finding out Daredevil’s secret identity and using it against him to try and destroy him.

While the series will see this returning face, there will be a new one behind the scenes. The announcement also came with news that Erik Oleson, who is a former head writer & executive producer on Man in the High Castle & executive producer on Arrow, will join as the brand new showrunner and executive producer for Daredevil.

This is the third showrunner for the series. Pacific Rim: Uprsing director Steven S. DeKnight held the job for season one & was followed by Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez for season two before they left to work on Marvel’s The Defenders.

There is no release date for Marvel’s Daredevil season three but it’s likely planned for a 2018 release alongside second seasons for Marvel’s Jessica Jones and Marvel’s Luke Cage.
