Gore Verbinski reportedly is making a deal to direct Fox’s Gambit

Gambit

After being stalled for a couple years with multiple director losses & reported edits to the script, Fox’s X-Men spinoff Gambit might have found some traction again. According to Deadline, the studio is reportedly in the process of making a deal with Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl director Gore Verbinski to helm the Channing Tatum starring film.

There are no firm details about Gambit, but recent reports from Splash Report suggest the film could be an Oceans 11 style heist film that will feature Remy LeBeau’s, Gambit’s real name, origins with the Thieves Guild, their war with the Assassin’s Guild/Boudreaux family, his arranged marriage/romance with Bella Donna Boudreaux and possibly even feature X-Men villain Mister Sinister who has multiple ties to Gambit and his past in the comics.

Currently there is no release date for Gambit, but Fox picked up numerous dates stretching out to 2021 for their Marvel character related films earlier this year.
