After announcing the return of the Milestone Comic book universe a few years ago, DC Comics & Milestone Media made their way to New York Comic Con to pull back the curtain on the reborn universe.
The companies announced that the Milestone comics/characters will return in spring 2018 as the Earth M imprint with Milestone co-founders Denys Cowan & Derek Dingle along with Reginald Hudlin, Alice Randall, Ken Lashley and Greg Pak among others chipping in for the new imprint. Classic Dakota Universe/Milestone characters like Static Shock, Icon, and Rocket will debut in brand new versions and titles in the imprint.
“We know fans have been waiting for the return of Milestone Media and we’re excited to collaborate with Reggie and Denys to build this new Earth M universe,” said DC Comics Publisher Jim Lee. “This world will reintroduce iconic characters fans know and love—along with new, bold, original concepts—creating a new platform dedicated to inclusion and great storytelling.”
Earth M will kick off with the launch of the series Milestone, from Reginald Hudlin and Ken Lashley, which will create the foundation and the overall story arc for the Earth M imprint. It will focus on Icon and Rocket and will feature other classic Milestone characters.
The other titles coming in the imprint are:
STATIC SHOCK, an ongoing series from Hudlin and Kyle Baker, focusing on 14-year-old Virgil Hawkins, a kid with a love of comics and science who develops dazzling, electric superpowers.
DUO, a new Earth M miniseries written by Greg Pak, introducing the twisted story of a couple sharing one body for eternity.
LOVE ARMY, a miniseries with story by Hudlin, about a secret army of women with amazing abilities and super-strength, sworn to protect the planet.
EARTH M, an anthology featuring a mysterious new vigilante character.
