The Belcher family is preparing for their biggest adventure to date: the big screen.
According to Deadline, 20th Century Fox is working on a feature film for the popular animated series Bob’s Burgers with their eyes on a July 17, 2020 release. Debuting on Fox in 2011, Bob’s Burgers follows the adventures, or misadventures at times, of burger shop owner Bob Belcher (H. Jon Benjamin), his wife Linda (John Roberts) and their three children Tina (Dan Mintz), Gene (Eugene Mirman) and Louise (Kristen Schaal).
“We’re thrilled to be invited to bring Bob’s Burgers to the big screen,” show creator Loren Bouchard said. “We know the movie has to scratch every itch the fans of the show have ever had, but it also has to work for all the good people who’ve never seen the show. We also know it has to fill every inch of the screen with the colors and the sounds and the ever so slightly greasy texture of the world of Bob’s – but most of all it has to take our characters on an epic adventure. In other words, it has to be the best movie ever made. But no pressure, right?!”
Since it’s debut, the series has steadily built up a large fan base and brought home the Emmy win for Outstanding Animated Series this year and back in 2014.
Bob’s Burgers will hold the honor of being the second of Fox’s coveted Sunday night animated series to get a big screen release following 2007’s The Simpsons movie.
