As Marvel Legacy enters its third month this December, the question that will be on the minds of many in the Marvel Universe is, where is Ms. Marvel?
As revealed by Newsarama, G. Willow Wilson and Nico Leon will begin a new arc in Ms. Marvel #25 called “Teenage Wasteland” that finds Ms. Marvel seemingly missing and the citizens of Jersey City and the hero Red Dagger picking up her legacy and patrolling the streets.
“Kamala’s story has always been about community – her family, her friends, her school,” Wilson said. “This arc opens on a very low point in Kamala’s life. She’s questioning a lot about herself and her mission. Her friends end up stepping into some very important – an unexpected – roles. So in a sense, the arc is really about a bunch of chronically under-estimated teenagers who pull together to fight evil. And, not for nothing, but a villain notorious for hating kids might be involved.”
All of the changes & events Kamala has been through the last few years will play a part in the new story.
“Since the events of Civil War II, there’s been friction between Kamala and her mentor, Captain Marvel,” Willow said. “In this arc, we’re exploring how complicated legacies can be when they’re passed from generation to generation. Each new decade brings its own changes and challenges. The heroes of one generation don’t always see eye to eye with the heroes of the next. Carrying on a legacy while still remaining true to yourself is one of the big themes of the story.”
