Batman & the Ninja Turtles take on Bane in a brand new crossover series

Batman TMNT II

The Heroes in a Half-Shell and the Dark Knight will meet up once again as DC Comics, IDW Publishing and Nickelodeon have officially announced Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II, a sequel to the 2015 crossover that first brought the heroes together.

This new six-issue miniseries will reunite not only the Gotham City and New York City heroes but also creators James Tynion IV and Freddie Williams II who tackled the original series.

“What DC and IDW started with Batman/TMNT in 2015 continues to spark interest with fans of these characters that have worldwide recognition,” said DC SVP Editorial Strategy & Administration, Hank Kanalz. “We can’t wait to see what James and Freddie deliver this time around.”

In the sequel series, Donatello wants to improve his fighting skills so he opens a portal in the hopes that he can summon Batman. Instead Batman’s foe Bane comes through, and sends Donatello through to Gotham City, and takes over as the new New York City gang boss leading to Donnie having to try and bring Batman back to his world to help the Turtles take the muscle bound villain down.

“The original crossover between Batman and the Turtles was met with such positive enthusiasm from the fans, that it was only a matter of time before their paths crossed again,” said IDW President and COO, Greg Goldstein. “Fans have themselves to thank for making this a reality, yet again, and we’re confident that we can deliver the goods to meet their expectations with our talented creative team returning for round two.”

Issues one and two of the series will both release in December with the rest of the series going monthly from that point. Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II #1 goes on sale December 6 with the next issue arriving on December 20.
