If you haven’t had a chance to watch the entirety of Marvel and Netflix’s Marvel’s The Defenders this is probably where you should bookmark this story, click out of it and come back to read it once you do that.
During the climactic scenes of the Defenders battle with the members of the Hand, Misty Knight (Simone Missick) fought alongside Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick) against the villain Bakuto (Ramón Rodríguez). That fight led to a moment comic fans had likely been anticipating, where Misty’s right arm was sliced off by the villain.
After spending time in a Danny Rand (Finn Jones) owned hospital at the end of the series, Misty looks to be on her feet again for the first photo for Marvel’s Luke Cage season two released by Entertainment Weekly. In it she’s at long last sporting the bionic arm that her comic book counterpart has been sporting for a long time.
There is no word yet on where the arm comes from, as in the comics it is something Tony Stark creates for Misty after she lost her arm defusing a bomb, but the state of the art hospital of Danny’s mentioned at the end of the miniseries is the likeliest of options. Even though the Netflix shows mostly stay away from the movie continuity, it would be easy to keep a Stark connection by saying that Danny purchased Stark Tech to build the arm or it could just be that Danny’s people come up with it on their own.
In the comics the arm gives Misty gives superhuman strength (in that arm), energy blasts and all kinds of other nifty crime fighting abilities.
However she gets the arm, Misty seems to be ready to do even more heroic work alongside the others starting in Marvel’s Luke Cage season two which will be followed by her appearing in season two of Marvel’s Iron Fist.
None of the upcoming Marvel/Netflix shows have release dates, but Luke Cage is likely to arrive sometime in 2018 along with new seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones followed by Iron Fist likely in 2019.
