Piece by piece Warner Bros. is finding the cast for their upcoming live-action Titans series, which will be one of their inaugural series on the still unnamed DC branded streaming app launching sometime in 2018.
According to Deadline, 24: Legacy‘s Anna Diop has landed the series-regular lead role of the flying & energy bolt firing alien hero Starfire. Diop joins the Australian newcomer Teagen Croft who was previously cast in the series-regular role of the empathic Raven who is also the daughter of the demon Trigon.
Diop’s Starfire, her real name being Koriand’r, is described as: “An alien princess from a warrior planet who seeks asylum on Earth. A no-nonsense, take-no-prisoners stranger on our world, she has the ability to shoot energy bolts and fly. Searching for her place on Earth, she’ll come into contact with the Titans.”
The action-adventure series reportedly will follow Dick Grayson/Nightwing emerging from the shadows, likely because of his work alongside Batman being done in shadows & at night, to end up leading a team of newer heroes which includes Starfire and Raven among others.
Titans comes from the team of Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Sarah Schechter and Warner Bros. TV with Goldsman, Johns and Berlanti handling the writing. The series is slated to be one of the launch shows alongside the third season of the returning Young Justice series when the Warner Bros. DC streaming platform launches next year.
