After encounters with the Green Lantern Corps, members of Starfleet & Tarzan the characters from The Planet of the Apes will meet the King of all primates, King Kong. Boom! Studios has announced the six-issue miniseries Kong on the Planet of the Apes which will bring the two worlds together, according to Empire Magazine.
The series picks up right after the events of the original 1968 Planet of the Apes film, with Dr. Zaius and General Ursus travelling to the Forbidden Zone to destroy any traces that Taylor was on the planet. Once there they discover the large body of a Kong which leads them on a journey with Cornelius and Zira to discover the mystery of Skull Island.
Kong on the Planet of the Apes is written by Ryan Ferrier with art by Carlos Magno, who worked on Planet of the Apes and Kong of Skull Island comics in the past.
“There’s such a deep mythology to both properties, especially if you take into account all of the amazing Kong and Apes comics that have come out in recent years,” Ferrier said. “With this series, we’ve found a really coherent, meaningful way of having these two worlds and their legacies fold into each other. The implications of the Ape civilization discovering the Kong world are huge, and that’s certainly on the forefront of the series.”
Kong on the Planet of the Apes arrives in November.
