Jessica Chastain confirms she’s joining Fox’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix

X-Men Apocalypse

Back in June it was announced that Fox had secured deals with most of the main characters from their previous reboot era X-Men films for next year’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix. At the time it was reported that Jessica Chastain was in talks to pick up the main antagonist role, Empress Lilandra of the Shi’ar Empire, and at last there is some firm confirmation of this.

Chastain shared an image on Instagram of her with James McAvoy (Professor Xavier) indicating she’s on her way to Montreal to join him in filming for the seventh X-Men film. She even tagged the franchise’s long-time producer and now first time director Simon Kinberg in the post.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix stars McAvoy, Chastain, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Lamar Johnson.

The film is set for a November 2, 2018 release.
