SDCC: The CW reveals the first trailer for the animated series Freedom Fighters: The Ray

CW The Ray Featured

With Vixen’s animated adventures on the CW Seed platform seeming wrapped up, The CW has turned their attention to another series. During San Diego Comic Con the network debuted the first trailer for Freedom Fighters: The Ray, an animated series that they announced last year.

The series is set on Earth X where the Nazis won World War II and in the present day have set up a new regime that rules over the United States. The Ray, Phantom Lady, Black Condor, Red Tornado and another hero not as easy to identify are the Freedom Fighters fighting back against Nazi control.

Versions of Supergirl, Flash and Green Arrow that work for the new regime stand in their way. There is currently no word on voice actors for the series but previously with Vixen the network had stars from their live-action series voice their animated counterparts.

Raymond “Ray” Terrill was a reporter who discovered a group of government scientists working on a secret project to turn light into a weapon of mass destruction. But before he could report on his findings, the project head exposed Ray to a “genetic light bomb.” The bomb failed to kill him and instead gifted Ray with light-based powers. With these abilities, Ray realized he could go beyond reporting on injustice – he could take action to help stop it. Calling himself The Ray, he was recruited by Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters to fight violence and oppression wherever it exists.

There is no word when the series will make it’s debut on The CW Seed.
