After spending over twelve years away from television, Star Trek is making a big come back this year with the CBS All Access exclusive Star Trek: Discovery. The first full glimpse at the series was offered in a trailer that the cast and crew dropped during a panel at San Diego Comic Con.
Set ten years prior to the adventures of Kirk and Spock in the original series, Discovery finds main character First Officer Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) along with the rest of her crew being pulled into a sort of cold war situation with the Klingon Empire. While the series is being set prior to the original series, the producers are still taking creative liberties when it comes to the designs, uniforms and even the look of the Klingons who look even more menacing than even their Star Trek: The Next Generation era versions that became the standard for the franchise.
The series will kick off a 15-episode first season on September 24, with the first eight episodes airing then and the final seven debuting in January 2018. In the U.S the series will debut the premiere on CBS before moving only to CBS All Access, and will be available on Netflix for the rest of the world.
Star Trek: Discovery stars Martin- Green, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Yeoh, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Terry Serpico, Maulik Pancholoy, Sam Vartholomeos, Mary Wiseman, Frain and others.
