Marvel & Netflix kicked off their The Defenders focused San Diego Comic Con by announcing that one of the members will be getting another chapter in their solo story.
Just like the other three members of the team, Iron Fist will officially be getting a second season, according to Variety.
During the panel Marvel TV Head Jeph Loeb teased that Misty Knight (Simone Missick), who debuted during Luke Cage’s first season, will be joining the cast in its sophomore season and will be teaming up with Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick). This is sure to excite many fans because in the comics the duo are best friends and are known as the Daughters of the Dragon.
The move could also potentially lead to a Misty and Danny Rand romance like the comics, but it might not.
While it was a given for Marvel & Netflix to give further seasons to the other Defenders members solo series, Iron Fist was a series that received a lot more negative critical reception compared to the other shows.
It’s likely that this second season will not be seen until 2019 at the earliest because Defenders and Punisher have claim to the summer & fall of 2017 while Daredevil season three, Jessica Jones season two and Luke Cage season two are all set for 2018.
