FX & Marvel have found the face for their big time villain for Legion‘s second season. It was announced during the series San Diego Comic Con panel that Wonder Woman’s Said Taghmaoui has officially been cast in the role of Amahl Farouk, otherwise known as the Shadow King, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
During the panel Farouk was described as a “villain with a thousand faces” who is always neatly dressed and is “dapper with a thin Clark Gable-style mustache.”
It is rumored he is the spawn of the first nightmare, which is fitting because fear is his weapon of choice in exposing weakness in others. To Farouk, fear equals weakness and he fears nothing. Which is why he takes such delight in seeing others squirm — a reminder he is more powerful than them.
Taghmaoui has just been cast in the part, but Farouk is not new to the series. During the first season the villain terrorized David Haller (Dan Stevens) and others by taking on the faces and names of others, even possessing individuals.
In the comics Farouk is one of the first powerful and evil mutants that Charles Xavier encounters, spurring him to create the X-Men, and is potentially an ancient entity who has often lived without a physical form within the Astral Plane.
Legion is expected to return for a 10-episode second season in 2018.
