As part of Disney’s bi-annual D23 Expo, Marvel Animation revealed the full voice cast and premiere date for their brand new Marvel’s Spider-Man animated series.
The latest series to focus on the web-swinger will premiere on August 19 with a one-hour premiere on Disney XD at 7 a.m. EST/PST. Robbie Daymond (Bread Winners, Get Blake) will provide the voice for the young version of Peter Parker/Spider-Man that is at the heart of the series.
Daymond will be joined by Max Mittleman (One-Punch Man) as Harry Osborn, Nadji Jeter (Kirby Buckets) as Miles Morales, Melanie Minichino (Mr. Peabody and Sherman) as Anya Corazon, Fred Tatasciore (Marvel’s Avengers Assemble) as Max Modell, Laura Bailey (Marvel’s Avengers Assemble) as Gwen Stacy, Scott Menville (Teen Titans) as Doctor Octopus, Alastair Duncan (The Batman) as Vulture, John DiMaggio (Adventure Time) as The Jackel, Nancy Linari (The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest) as Aunt May and Patton Oswalt (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as Uncle Ben.
The final member of the voice cast is Marvel Comics’ own Chief Creative Officer & former Editor in Chief Joe Quesada who will be executive produce the series a character named Joe, who is the owner of a coffee shop known as Cup O’ Joe, which is of course named after Quesada’s long-running comic con panels of the same name.
Marvel’s Spider-Man, we will see a fresh take on Spider-Man, as Peter Parker is learning the responsibility that comes along with being a new, super-powered hero in New York City, just as he’s being accepted into Horizon High, a high school for brilliant young scientific minds. He struggles with the duality of his social life at school and hiding his secret identity from everyone including his best friend Harry Osborn, who attends the competing Osborn Academy for geniuses. As Peter embraces his alter-ego and takes on super villains such as Vulture, Lizard, Doctor Octopus and Sandman, he watches his hero lifestyle come between his personal relationships and struggles to keep Harry from landing on the wrong side of the law.
The characters offer up a nice mix of the classic like Gwen Stacy, Harry Osborn, Doc Ock, and others while also mixing in more modern characters like Miles Morales (Spider-Man in current comics), Anya Corazon (known as Arana/Spider-Girl in comics) and Max Modell (owner of Horizon Labs in comics.)
