If last week’s reports of Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and James McAvoy returning for the seventh X-Men film, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, were not enough, McAvoy himself has confirmed his return to the franchise.
Taking to Instagram, McAvoy shared a video of him slowly revealing an electronic razor so that he can shave his head once more for the role of Charles Xavier after the character finally reached his iconic bald status at the end of X-Men: Apocalypse.
Previously the contracts for Hoult, Lawrence, Fassbender and McAvoy ran out with X-Men: Apocalypse, their third film since the series was semi-rebooted with 2011’s X-Men: First Class.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix will feature Fox’s second attempt at tackling the Phoenix storyline surrounding Jean Grey after the poorly received X-Men: The Last Stand in 2006.
The film will star McAvoy as Professor Xavier, Fassbender as Magneto, Lawrence as Mystique, Hoult as Beast, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler and reportedly Jessica Chastain in talks to play Empress Lilandra.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix opens on November 2, 2018.
