Jokes are cracked, foes are webbed up & helicopters are chased in the 9-minute gameplay video for Marvel’s Spider-Man

Marvel's Spider-Man game

It’s definitely been quite a number of years since Spider-Man has had a video game that has been the talk of the town, but Insomniac Games PlayStation 4 exclusive Marvel’s Spider-Man might be that game.

During the Sony PlayStation Media Showcase at E3 2017, a little over nine-minute long gameplay demo was shown off that features the wise-cracking amazing Spider-Man doing his thing.

Unlike many of the games featuring the character in recent years this one is not connected to the upcoming film or any other properties. Instead it’s a standalone game that is building it’s own world & story by picking out some of the cooler aspects of Spider-Man’s long life in comics, TV shows, films and other media.

The cherry picking of elements is shown off right away in the trailer as Wilson Fisk/The Kingpin makes an appearance as does the more recent additions to the Spider-Man Rogue’s Gallery Martin Li/Mister Negative & police Captain Yuri Watanabe. Li is a businessman & homeless shelter owner who also has a super villain persona that is a mob boss style rival to others like the Kingpin.

Negative’s henchmen the Demons are the main foes in the gameplay, alongside a spectacular helicopter chase through the city.

Marvel's Spider-Man Miles Morales

There is even a moment near the end where a young man that is watching the whole thing starts to leave after his friend calls out his name, Miles, indicating the likely chance that Marvel’s other Spider-Man Miles Morales might be playing a part or at least have a cameo in this game.

Marvel’s Spider-Man is expected to arrive in 2018.
