Marvel is rolling out the Black Panther promotions with the first poster dropping earlier & the first teaser trailer planned to debut during game 4 of the NBA Finals on ABC tonight. Along with that poster also comes a new synopsis for the film.
Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.
This new synopsis gives a bit more information about the film than the ones that were floating around previously. It definitely maintains the fact that this film will be taking place pretty much fully in Wakanda and deal with a lot of political issues, which fits the word that it will pull from the current Ta-Nehisi Coates Black Panther series.
Directed by Ryan Coogler, Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan as Erik Kilmonger, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Forest Whitaker as Zuri, Angela Bassett as Ramonda, Freeman as Everett Ross, Serkis as Klaw, Daniel Kaluuya as W’Kabi, Winston Duke as M’Baku/Man-Ape, Sterling K. Brown as N’Jobu, Florence Kasumba as Ayo, Letitia Wright in an unknown role, and John Kani as King T’Chaka.
The film opens Feburary 16, 2018.
