Rogue One: A Star Wars Story told us how the story of the latest fan-favorite Star Wars buddy duo Cassian Andor and his droid companion K-2S0 ended. This August, thanks to Marvel Comics, we can find out how that story began.
Announced through StarWars.com, Star Wars: Rogue One – Cassian & K-2S0 Special #1 by Duane Swierczynski and Fernando Blanco is a 40-page one-shot that reveals how one of the top intelligence officers of the Rebel Alliance met and reprogrammed an Imperial security droid. Julian Totino Tedesco created the cover for the one-shot.
Unlike most of the stories in the Star Wars universe released by Marvel Comics, all of the series are canon alongside the films, this one-shot will take place in the relatively unexplored time period between the prequel trilogy and the original film trilogy. Currently that era has mostly been explored by Star Wars: Rebels and a few novels as well as the upcoming Star Wars – Darth Vader comic series.
The one-shot will arrive in August alongside the recently announced Star Wars: Jedi of the Republic – Mace Windu series.
