Star Trek is making its return to television at long last, in the form of the prequel series Star Trek: Discovery, and after fans have waited a few years CBS has released the first trailer/look at the series.
While the series is set in the same universe as the television shows that have come before, and is set 10 years before the adventures of Kirk and company in the original series Star Trek, the series definitely has seemed to take some cues from the current line of films. Including some of that J.J. Abrams style lens flare.
Star Trek: Discovery stars Jason Isaacs as Captain Lorca, Sonequa Martin-Green as First Officer Michael Burnham, Doug Jones as science officer Saru, Anthony Rapp as science officer Stamets, Terry Serpico as Starfleet Admiral Anderson, Maulik Pancholoy as Chief Medical Officer Nambue, Sam Vartholomeos as junior Starfleet officer Connor, Mary Wiseman as Starfleet Academy Cadet Tilly, Michelle Yeoh as Captain Philippa Georgiou, and James Frain as Ambassador Sarek among others.
When the series debuts, sometime later this year, it will air exclusively on the CBS All Access streaming application in the U.S. and through Netflix in the rest of the world.
