Next month Marvel Comics REsurrXion initiative is set to take the X-Men back to the days of following Xavier’s dream and being heroes that protect mutants and humans alike with books like X-Men Gold and X-Men Blue among others. What’s within the pages of the books won’t be the only blast from the past.

Announced by Marvel, X-Men Gold #1 and X-Men Blue #1 will both come with special variant covers that are remastered and recolored artwork from the legendary Jim Lee, who of course worked on the X-Men back in the 90s when the blue and gold team monikers first emerged.

“Few artists are as synonymous with the X-Men, and specifically the Blue & Gold era of the X-Men quite like Jim Lee,” said Marvel SVP Sales & Marketing David Gabriel. “We wanted to do something extra special to commemorate these two new titles, and we’re excited to bring Jim’s unique vision of Marvel’s merry mutants back to the fans for these two remastered variant covers!”

Both of the covers have been recolored by artist Morry Hollowell, and retailers now have till March 20 to check their orders to make sure they receive issues with the special variant covers.

X-Men Gold and X-Men Blue both are double shipping with their first issues arriving in April.
