Whovians have gone through a drought of new Doctor Who content in 2016 since the series has been on a break since last winter’s Doctor Who: The Husbands of River Song Christmas Special. While series 10, the last with Steven Moffat as the showrunner, isn’t set to debut until sometime in 2017 fans at last have a taste of what is to come with this year’s Christmas Special.
Moffat, the Doctor himself Peter Capaldi, new companion Pearl Mackie, Matt Lucas who played Nardole in last year’s special and executive producer Brian Minchin hosted a panel at Madison Square Garden for New York Comic Con where they showed the first look at the special, which is officially titled The Return of Doctor Mysterio.
The BBC also shared a first look at guest star Justin Chatwin (Orphan Black) who will be playing a super hero in the special.
Doctor Who: The Return of Doctor Mysterio will air on BBC and BBC America on Christmas Day.
