Since it was announced almost a year ago, little by little more information has emerged about the latest Doctor Who spin-off series Class.
With the premiere of the series about a month away, reportedly sometime in October, The BBC released the shiny logo image for Class through a Twitter account for the series.
Class will have eight 45 minute episodes and was originally described as a young adult series set in contemporary London where “incredible dangers are breaking through the walls of time and space, and with darkness coming, London is unprotected. With all the action, heart and adrenaline of the best YA fiction (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Hunger Games), this is Coal Hill School and Doctor Who like you’ve never seen them before.”
Young adult writer Patrick Ness will serve as showrunner and will also executive produce the series alongside Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffet. Class is just the latest spin-off to come from the modern revival of the long-running hit series, following Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures.
Reportedly the current Doctor, Peter Capaldi, is set to appear in the premiere episode of the series.
Class stars Greg Austin, Fady Elsayed, Sophie Hopkins, Vivian Oparah and Kathrine Kelly and is expected to begin airing next month.
